Workouts

Every day that the weather permits I am spending more time outdoors and walking my dogs alot. Yesterday and today has been heavenly - sunny, 50/60s. Dogs are so well behaved (and sleepy) from all the exercise and fresh air and I am in such a great mood!

This morning I did:

Workouts

Today I did:

I love Richard Simmons! I think his workouts are so much fun, he almost always has good music and a diverse group of exercisers. This workout was fun, easy, and fit what I was looking for. I spend too much time sitting at my desk in my office and I thought this could be fun to do at my desk in between working, beading, online. A few years ago when I had injured my ankle I purchased all of the Chair Dancing workouts and they were fun, easy to do with an injury, and easy to do during the day without having to change into workout clothes, put shoes on, or go down to the basement to exercise in our fitness room. I was also able to convince my mom to do some of them with me and she seemed to enjoy them as well.
Sit Tight is more intense than Chair Dancing, it is non-stop, has both arm and leg movements, good vocal music, and is just plain fun. Richard is very encouraging and there are people in wheelchairs and people of all shapes, sizes, and ages doing the workout. I'm so glad I nabbed this when Mary had it, I figured the DVD would soon be OOP (out of print) and hard to find and I see she no longer carries it, nor does Amazon. If you can find it and like these type of workouts, I highly recommend it! All of the sitting workouts are great for when you have an injury or aren't up to intense exercise - some movement is better than none! Although I wouldn't recommend it for seniors unless they are in pretty good shape - it really is non-stop dancey movements with little cueing. The Chair Dancing workouts are more suitable for seniors in my opinion.

I also did:

I liked this one, it is a step up in intensity from the Leslie Sansone walking workouts, has better music, is filmed outdoors which I love, and has three levels.

WOTD

Today I did:

And:

I only did Cardio 1. I've always liked Richard Simmons and really appreciate that he uses good vocal music. This workout was no exception. This workout was 20 minutes and had 4 songs. #1 was a remix of The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction, song #2 was a remix of Summer of '69, I did not recognize the third song at all, and song #4 was a remix of We Got the Beat. The moves were simple dancey aerobics, beginner level = grapevines, v-steps, cha chas, side steps while playing air guitar or swinging your arms, etc. It was fun. I won't be following his rotation as I get bored easily and like to do whatever strikes my fancy each day.

Happy New Year!

I had a wonderful Christmas, despite being sick, have been for a couple weeks now - I suspect a cold into a sinus infection. But I still managed to enjoy the holidays with loved ones. My husband has a few more days off still, so I am taking time off until he goes back to work and until my head & sinuses stop hurting. I've been doing some stretches and some OT related work on the stability ball almost daily and will continue since it seems to help me relax and sleep.

A few fitness related Christmas gifts that I received & can't wait to try:
