WOTD

Day 32 of Sadhana, did Qi Gong For Seniors.
Don't laugh - I'm not a senior yet, but this is an incredibly relaxing feel good practice! It includes stretching, range of motion exercises, balance exercises, Qi self massage, and a gentle flow segment. There are three ways you can do this workout - you can choose to do the routine standing or modified - either seated (as demonstrated by Lee's mother, Karen) or standing with a chair for stability. I could not stop yawning through out -I felt so relaxed during and after!

WOTD

Day 37 of 40 day Sadhana. Today I did Qi Gong for Upper Back and Neck Pain. I had a lot going on today and really had to make an effort to put myself first and do the workout despite having a bunch of things to do. I think often I forget to make time to do something healthy for me. Feeling good inside & out that I did Qi Gong today!!

40 Day Sadhana

I purchased the newest set of Classical Stretch a few months ago and that is about all I have been doing since I last checked in. There is a fantastic episode for PF (Plantar Fasciitis) that I can't stop doing!

Since tonight is the Autumnal Equinox and the start of fall, I am committing to a 40 day Sadhana of Yoga & Qi Gong. Today I did Yoga for Stress Relief and was a big pile of mush - it felt so wonderful, warm, needed.

Workouts

Every day that the weather permits I am spending more time outdoors and walking my dogs alot. Yesterday and today has been heavenly - sunny, 50/60s. Dogs are so well behaved (and sleepy) from all the exercise and fresh air and I am in such a great mood!

This morning I did:

Workouts

Today I did:

I love Richard Simmons! I think his workouts are so much fun, he almost always has good music and a diverse group of exercisers. This workout was fun, easy, and fit what I was looking for. I spend too much time sitting at my desk in my office and I thought this could be fun to do at my desk in between working, beading, online. A few years ago when I had injured my ankle I purchased all of the Chair Dancing workouts and they were fun, easy to do with an injury, and easy to do during the day without having to change into workout clothes, put shoes on, or go down to the basement to exercise in our fitness room. I was also able to convince my mom to do some of them with me and she seemed to enjoy them as well.
Sit Tight is more intense than Chair Dancing, it is non-stop, has both arm and leg movements, good vocal music, and is just plain fun. Richard is very encouraging and there are people in wheelchairs and people of all shapes, sizes, and ages doing the workout. I'm so glad I nabbed this when Mary had it, I figured the DVD would soon be OOP (out of print) and hard to find and I see she no longer carries it, nor does Amazon. If you can find it and like these type of workouts, I highly recommend it! All of the sitting workouts are great for when you have an injury or aren't up to intense exercise - some movement is better than none! Although I wouldn't recommend it for seniors unless they are in pretty good shape - it really is non-stop dancey movements with little cueing. The Chair Dancing workouts are more suitable for seniors in my opinion.

I also did:

I liked this one, it is a step up in intensity from the Leslie Sansone walking workouts, has better music, is filmed outdoors which I love, and has three levels.

Order Cancelled

Very disappointed my last order was cancelled from Collage Video. I saw they added maybe 50 or 60 more DVDs this morning and now are down to 10. Oh well

Another order

Caved and placed another order at Collage Video. They keep adding DVDs to their going out of business sale, and I mistakenly keep checking it. I ordered Rockin Models since it looks fun & different and has been on my wishlist ever since it came out.

Goodies Are Here!

I've been reading on the Video Fitness forums that many of the 7,000+ who ordered from Collage's going out of business sale have had their entire orders cancelled due to things selling out. I nervously waited to get a shipping notice, refund on the credit card, or to hear something. I emailed Collage to find out my status, just couldn't stand the suspense, and was told two of my items sold out before they shipped my order. I was not getting Cardio for Beginners or Walking for Weight Loss Wellness and Energy. With the refund (and a 10% off coupon & some rewards points) I ordered Walking for Weight Loss from Mary @ Total Fitness DVDs and received that yesterday (love her fast shipping!). The other workout I don't care about since it seems it would be too simple for me. I threw it in my cart just because it was cheap.

I was still concerned about receiving a correct and working order. However today it arrived in wonderful condition and I am a happy camper! Can't wait to do these!

***Collage has since fulfilled orders and found a few one offs that they've added to their website for sale. They were down to 11 DVDs and now they are up to 45, so if you want anything I'd grab it fast!

A Sad Day

Oh no, how very sad, I just read that Collage Video is going out of business!

I have been a long time customer, I bought my first fitness VHS & DVD (Urban Tai Chi & Winsor Pilates) from them. They are the reason why I grew my collection and fell in love with home fitness. I found amazing instructors on their website and in their informative catalogs. The 2nd DVD I purchased from them was Christi Taylor's Totally Hot Cardio. I remember trying it out and thinking WTF is she doing?! She is why I love complex choreography so much, thanks to Collage's video preview.

Everything on their website is 30-70% off. I just placed my final order, consisting of:

A few things sold out and disappeared from my cart before I could place my order, so if you want something, I would act fast!

So sad to see them go. Thank you Collage Video for many years of catalogs, DVDs, great customer service, and fast shipping! You will be missed.

WOTD

Today I did:

And:

I only did Cardio 1. I've always liked Richard Simmons and really appreciate that he uses good vocal music. This workout was no exception. This workout was 20 minutes and had 4 songs. #1 was a remix of The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction, song #2 was a remix of Summer of '69, I did not recognize the third song at all, and song #4 was a remix of We Got the Beat. The moves were simple dancey aerobics, beginner level = grapevines, v-steps, cha chas, side steps while playing air guitar or swinging your arms, etc. It was fun. I won't be following his rotation as I get bored easily and like to do whatever strikes my fancy each day.

Checking In

Just checking in. Have been busy completing a new jewelry project, but have been doing a lot of Happy Hormones - love this DVD! Seems like older style Raviana, which I prefer.

Today I did Back in Shape and really like it.

My birthday is coming up and I know my husband got me the new Zumba Incredible Results set, can't wait to try it! Love Zumba and this new one looks like so much fun.

Happy New Year!

I had a wonderful Christmas, despite being sick, have been for a couple weeks now - I suspect a cold into a sinus infection. But I still managed to enjoy the holidays with loved ones. My husband has a few more days off still, so I am taking time off until he goes back to work and until my head & sinuses stop hurting. I've been doing some stretches and some OT related work on the stability ball almost daily and will continue since it seems to help me relax and sleep.

A few fitness related Christmas gifts that I received & can't wait to try:
